Hyderabadi Dum Biryani Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 kilogram of Fresh Chicken
  • 1 kg kilogram of Basmati rice
  • 1 bunch of Spearmint ( pudina)
  • 1 bunch of Coriander leaves
  • 5 to 6 - Big size onions
  • 3 Table spoon of Ginger and Garlic paste
  • 15 Table spoon of red chilli powder
  • ½ Table spoon of Turmeric powder
  • 3 Table spoon of Chicken masala
  • 2 Table spoon of coriander powder
  • Whole Garam Masala
  • 4 to 5 Biriyani leaves
  • 1 Cup of Curd
  • 2 Lemon's

Method

Step 1

First clean the chicken with water and add chilli pwd, coriander pwd, ginger & garlic paste, salt to taste, turmeric pwd, chicken masala pwd, curd and marinate chicken for about 30 minutes.

Step 2

In a frying pan add enough cooking oil and fry finely chopped onions till golden brown color comes out.

Step 3

Remove excess oil the pan and pour it in the marinated chicken. mix it well and keep it aside.

Step 4

Take rice in a cooking vessel, add whole garam masala, biryani leaves ( bay leaf), salt to taste and allow it to cook.

Step 5

When rice is half cooked, strain it.

Step 6

In a frying pan cook the chicken pieces with Spearmint (pudina) and coriander leaves.

Step 7

Later add half the boiled rice and fried onions.

Step 8

Now add remaining half boiled rice & onions layer by layer and cover the vessel with a lid (don't allow pressure to go out). Reduce flame and cook for about 40 minutes more.

Step 9

Finally, add lime juice mixed with turmeric pwd through small holes made in the dum biryani rice.

Step 10

Serve delicious Hyderabadi Dum Biryani Recipe with raita.
